Thursday, November 2Cth. (Before James Fulton, Esq., R.M.) Furious Riding.—James Brook, for this offence, was fined 20s and coats. Edward M'Evran, for driving a dray through the streets furiously, was fined L 5 and oosta. He waa further charged with, having no name painted on the day, and was mulcted in a further sum of 10s and costs. No Reins.—William Watson, for. driving without reins, was fined os and costs. A Stkbet Obstruction. —H. S. Fish and Son were summoned for obstructing the footpath, by placing a roll of lead outside their shop. A penalty of 2s Cd and costs was inflicted. A Four, Chimney.—John Pringle, for allowing a chimney to take fire through neglect, was fined 53 and costs. Vagrancy.—John Wilks alias Brummy Wilks and Mary Ann Sutton were charged vith being the occupiers of a disorderly house, one that was frequented by disorderly characters, and persons having no lawful visible means of support. The Commissioner of Police conducted the prosecution. Mr Wilson appeared for the defendants. The evidence of the police went to show that the house was of the worst possible description, and that there were constantly rows and drunken sprees going on, which made the place a nuisance to the neighborhood. They were each sentenced to three months' imprisonment, with hard labour. Informations by Inspector Njmon. —John M'Lelldn, for allowing cows to depasture in. the public streets, -was fined 7s Cd and coat*. {Emma Lane and Jane M'Leod were each ordered to pay 10a and costs for neglecting to keep clean premises. . .Robert Douglas and Elizabeth Blanc were summoned for like offences. They were cautioned, but no penalty was inflicted. The hearing of charges of having , allowed goats to stray, preferred against Thomas Main and Patrick Koone, was adjourned ! for a week. Thk Town Belt.—Thomas Hastie was I charged by tlie Ranger with, having al- ! lowed three horses to depasture within the .Belt. It was pleaded that the horses had got out of a paddock by accident. The case was dismissed, .the defendant being cautioned. , , . - - . Tint Dog Ca.se Again.—The adjourned case of Bunoe v. Cameron, a charge of illegally detaining a dog, was called on. Mr Ward appeared for the complainant, and Mr Harris for the defendant. On the hut occasion the complainant brought a large number of witnesses to prove that the dog was his. Now the defendant called an equal number to show that the dog was him. The Magistrate could not decide as to who waa the real claimant, so 'ha cat the Gordian knot, and dismissed the ease.
