At the Bcsideat Magistrate's Court, Port Ohalinera, yesterday, before J. Fulton, I'sq., K.M., Thomas Parkinson was charged with violently assaulting William Julier, on the 17th imt. ilr Mansford api)ear«sd for the plaintiff, who was prebent in Oaurt with marks of violence on his face. Mr Manstord stated that a violent attack had been made on the plaintiff by the defendant, and hoped the Court would assess damages in accordance with the nature of the assault. The evidence adduced by several witnesses showed that the plaintiff had brought a great deal of the assault upon himself, and the Bench being of opinion that he had been the assaulting party, dismissed the"eatie: Mr Mansford gave notice of appeal. A civil case, Eochfort v. Dick, was then heard. Tim w?.s a claim of L2O for damages sustained bjp the defendant's bull breaking the fence >,'f the plaintiff, and rushing at him, whereby he

sustained bodily .injury- Mr Mansion! appeared for tho plaintiff ; and Mr M'Cre-or for the defendant. Mr M'Gregor asked that the caa« might bo dismissed, as the information.' The coach duo from Oaranru last evening, did not arrfve at the nsnal hour ; but some of the p.issengera reached town shortly afterward*, brinting tho information that an accident hsul happened a short distance beyond Blueskin. Tiio precise particulars of the manner in which tho accident happened, and itH results, were not obtainable up to a lato hour hvst night ; but we understand that, as the coach was coming down the hill at Kilmog, it was capsiicd, and several of tho passengers, of whom there were sixteen, were injured, but none of them seriously. Mr Eattray, of tho firm of Dalgety, Itattray, and Co., was one of the few who were most severely hurt. He had ore of his anclth sprained, and was otherwifi« shaken and bruised. Another p36Benger had his elbow joint put out, and a third had one of his che ks severely cut. Tho othera, we believe, escaped with slight scratches or bruises, and two lady passengers were among the most fortunate. Tho horses smarted cfF with the fore-cariage, and one of them which fell, was so injured as to be of no further service. As soon as the information <>f the accident was received, Mr Manstidd despatched one of the coaches with Br Ecfles ; and shortly afterward Mr Chaplin proceeded to the locality in a buggy accompanied by Dr Alexander, it being at the time unknown what might be the extent of the injuries which the passengers had received. t»,t a later hour another coach was sent out to bring to town those of the passengers who had not otherwise arrived. The accident occurred at a spot where there are a dangerous descent and turn of the road, and it was to avert the more serous consequences of going over the precipice, which seemed to be imminent, that the coach was driven toward.*! the bank, where the capsize occurred.
