The s.s. Tairoa, which put in on Saturday, from Waikava, bound to 0 Amaru, sailed for the latter port on Sunday evening.
The s.s. Wainui, with a largs general cargo and passengers, took her departure for Lyttelton and intermediate ports, yesterday afternoon.
At the E. M. Court, Port Chalmers, yesterday, Robert Glegg, and Thos. Baillie, were charged with deserting from the ship Resolute. Captain Wallace appeared to support the charge, - which was proved, and the prisoners were sentenced to twelve weeks' imprisonment with hard labor, the" Master having the option of taking them on board when his ship was ready for sea." At the same Court, John Watson pleaded guilty to the offence of plying for hire as a waterman without a license, and was dismissed. In reference to the latter case the Magistrate had received a letter from defendant's mother stating that a license had been applied for, but refused to be recommended by the Harbor Master. The-Harbor Master, who was present, said that such .^as the case, and he would not recommend any one to be a licensed boatman who had not sufficient expend"!.*1, as in the case of the defendant.
