A Company is proposed to be formed under the above de-'iguatiou, -with Limited Liability, for tJe purpose of affording increased facility of communication between Dunedin and the various Ports north and couth of it. It is believed, that a well organised Steam Service; devoted ta that object, would hot only prove highly remunerative bb an investment of Capital, but would also be extremely beneficial bcth tj the interests of the Settlers in the Country and the Mercantile Community In Town. A large quantity of prcdace is at the present time lying'at the Molyneux for disposal, but is' quije unsaleable in consequence of the want of water carriage. During the ensuing Wool Season, bcth Oamaru and Timsru v>i!l require additional means of transport, as it is believed that Captains of Briiish ships would prefer remaining at Port Chalmers, to lying at anchor in the open roadstead of either, of thcEe places, if they could be secure of having their cargoes brought to thorn at moderate rates of freight. ' '. In addition to the foregoing reasons '.for expecting profitable aad constant, employment, in the tilps from the outljiag ports to Dunedin, the large quantity of roercban he exported from thence to the Country Distii;t3, is equally calculated to insure cargo in remunerative quantities on the outward trips. ■ ; Itis proposed that the Capital of the Company should be £15,000, divided into 300 shares ef £50 each; that a suitable Steamer should be' procured from Australia or Great Biiuij, and that in the meantime an offer, whioh has been made to the prrjeetors, ofaßteam Vessel now in the Colony, and adapted for the purposes of the Company, should be accepted, so as to enable the Company to commence operations at once. As soon as a sufficient number of Shares is 'subscribed for, a Meeting will be called, Directors appo'nted, and other details arrrangeu. FORM OF APPLICATION FOR . SHARES. .
