LATER NEWS FROM ENGLAND.
Our telegraphic despatches from Christchurch, gave an outline of ■ the English news that reached Melbourne by the Sarah from the Mauritius, and was transmitted; by electric telegraph to Sydney. The Argus of the 15th inst. contains the following lull particulars:—
The brig Sarah, belonging to Messrs Joshua Brotters, arrived yesterday from tlie Maurit.ui. She left Pore Louis on tlie 11th of August. The English mail of the Bth of July had reached the island. Unfortunately, the papers put on board the Sarah were few in number, aud that which contained the principal items of uews has not been preserved. Ihc following, however, is from the Port Louis Gazette of the 7th and 10th August, with which the press had been favoured by Messrs Joshua Brothers:— -
The British Parliament was dissolved on the Gth July, by Royal commission. The revenue returns for the year and quaiter ending 30th June show a decrease, but considerably leas^ than might have been expected from f the reduction' in taxation.
