FTRENDERS are required by the Provincial JL Government of Canterbury, for the performance of the undermentioned service :— A Steamer to ply fortnightly between Lyttelton and Dnnerlin, calling pach way (weather permitting) at Akaroa and Tiinaru. To leave Lyt- I telton, on the day of departure for each trip, not later than 12 o'clock noon. To carry Local and Australian mails free. Tenders for tbe above service to state what additional sum will be required for the steamer ] to call each way at Pigeon Bay; also, the maximum rate of freight at which passengers and goods will be carried. The Contract to commence on the Ist January, 1865, and to be in force for One V eai; to be ■terminable, however, within that period by three months' notice on either side. A. penalty of £20 will he exacted in addition to the forfeiture of the «übsidy lor every breach of the contract. No penalties will be enforced where a breach of the conttact has been caused by circumstances ■which can be proved to the satisfaction of the Provincial Government to have been beyond the control of the contractor. The lowe-st or any tender will not necessarily lie accepted.
