WOOL. WOOL. TO WOOLGROWERS, MERCHANTS AND OTHERS, OF OTAG >, CANTERBURY, AND SOUTHLAND. DRIVER MACLEAN AND CO. beg respectfully to inform the WOOLG-RoWEKcs, MUttU HANTS, &o of thia and the neighbouring Provinces, that on removing to their new and commodious premises in HIGH STREET, have made arrangements for holding during the season a series of AUCTION SALES OF WOOL, SHEEPSKINS, HIDES, AND TALLOW. It ia a well-known fact that in all the Woolproducing Colonies of .treat Britain the system of disposing ot this staple by public competition has become universal, and has proved emiue* tly advantageous, aline to the bu>erandthe seller. Nothing can be more desirable than that the wool-growers of the extensive district of which Dunedin is the centre, should be placed in a position to avail themselves of a mode of sale which has been found so useful elsewhere. It is with the view of meeting a want so generally felt that the undersigned have been induced t" devote a large portion of tlie premises above referred to to the purposes of a WO >h AUoTION MART. It is their intention to conduct this branch of their business in the same manner a* it has for years been carried ou ly their friends and agents —Messrs K Gouldsborough s. Co., of Melbourne, and by ther emineut ti. nis in the neighboring colonies of Australia. They have, also, to ensure its efficient nwnageinent, engaged the services of Mr W. L. Lees, a practi al and expe rienced Woolsorter, who has been several years employed in the same line by Messrs Goldsbrough and Co. From the arrangements thus completed, the grower, on consigning his Wool to the undersigned, wi'l secure tlie double advantage of having it placed on view and offered for sale in this market; and in the case of its not being disposed of to meet his views a- to its value, of having it shipped under efficient superintendence, cither to Melbourne or Great Britain, or to Great Britain vid Melbourne. A further and most important advantage will be found iu the opportunity now r "*i«ted, for having Wools properly Ported and t/i_j**ZFlßD the apot; as it has been found by experience that Wools irregularly packed never realise their fu'l value. On consigning Wools to the undersigned, constituents will please to furnish full particulars of their classification, specially uistinEuistiins flvseob Wools from liAaibs, looks, pieces, or broken and mixed. This precaution is required by the necessity of selling these different classes of Wool separately. Wools sent to the undersigned for shipment to Great Britain will, if not specially consigued, be forwarded to their agents—the well known firm of MILBB BROS, and CO., Of London and Liverpool, Ia whose hands the interests of the consignor will be secure of careful attention.
