There has been rather more activity in business matters to-day than has been experienced for some time past.

Flour.—The sales of yesterday have created a good deal of animation in the market to-day s and although we hear of no important transactions, tbere seems to be a great desire on the part of the trade to buy, owing io some measure to the discovery that the stock is again reduced to a very narrow compass. The damaged portion j *bi the Ismyr's cargo w&s sold to-day at the auction rooms of M'Landress, Hepburn and Co., and realised Ll2 15s, all faults. Tobacco.—Little of importance ha 3 occurred in this article since the large auction sale the other day; another large sale by auction is advertised for to-morrow, and excites a good deal of interest, as the result is likely to determine the course of the market for some time to come. Baook and Hams.—Two shipments of Sinclair's brand have changed hands to-day; the price has not transpired, but supposed to be low.

Station Properties,—Driver, Maclean and Co. report the sale of the " Five Rivers Plain Station," Province of Southland, about 200,000 acres, with 30,000 sheep, 50 head catlle, 16 workin? bullocks, and 8 horses, to Me?sr3 Hepburn and M-Master, of this Province, for the sum of £66,000.
