THE STAFFORD STREET FIRE AND THE INSURANCE COMPANIES.
(To the Editor of the Daimt TBieO
Sin—Touching the matter of Insurance Companies' liberality we can speak feelingly on the suhject. Doubtless you recollect our paitry claim of about 130 against the Otsgo Insurance Company, for loss and damage sustainel by us m consequence of the Stafford and Hops street fire. You will perhaps liardJy credit it when we tell you that they lately compromised the claim by giving us the sum of LlO, after repeatedly dun ning them, and summoning them twice at the Poiice Court, and threatening to do so a third lime. The fact is. the loss of tinis at the Court, and the loss to us in our trasiuess by taking an further trouble in the affair, so thoroughly disgu?ted us, and being heartily sick of it, we accepted their composition. The shareholders ought to take immediate steps to prevent a repetition of such liberality, alter the style of that gentleman at home. Yours, &c., J. SOLOMOH AND CO.
