CHRISTCHURCH LIVE STOCK MARKET.
Mr W. D. Barnard reports at his annual sale of norses and cattle, the property of Mr Charles Turner, held at the Sawyers' Arms, P;ipanui, on Thursday last:—There was an unusually large attendance of country buyers, dealers, and butchers About, one hundred head of cows, steers, heifers. &c, and about 20 horses were disposed ot at the following1 prices: — Cattle.—Two-year-old steers and heifers, in fair condition, averaged Ll2 per head; cows, with and without c >lyes, averaged L 4 10s per head : yearling steers and heifers averaged L 6 6s ; calves realised 13 15s each
Horses,—Unbroken colts and fillies, from Ll2 to L4O, averaging L 24 per head. A t his usual Saturday's sale a draught of about 20 hpnd of thoroughbred colts and fillies, the property of Major White, were disposed of, and averaged 20 guineas. The racehorse Othello was sold for L 52 10s- Sundry hacks and light harness horses were sod at prices from LlB toL36 10s, averaging L 2655.
