NELSON.

(From The Examiner.) •The Murderer Hone Pokiki.—Additional evidence, calculated still more strongly to fix onf Horn Pokiki the guilt of Mr Grant's murder has, withm the last few days, been obtained. An article of dress, which is known to have been worn by Pokiki on the day of the murder, and bearing stains of blood, has been discovered among his clothing. This, at least, will be satisfactory to the jury, as showing the accuracy of their verdict. Importation of Blood Stock. — By the barque Affiance, lately arrived in Wellington, a colt and two fillies have been added to the thoroughbred stock of the colony. The colt is by Jr.°'. T°ole, dam b y De R uyt er; one of the fillies is by Sugar Plum, dam by Harkaway, and tbe other by Lord of the Isles, was lost on the passage. ...... Steam Plough.—By the Magna Bona, our enterprising fellow-colonist, Mr H. Redwood has imported from the manufadory of Messrs Eansome and Co, a Steam Plough, with an engine of fourteen horse - power, and all the necessary tackle, together with a saw bench, and other machinery. This we believe to be the nrst steam plough that has crossed the line, and, should Mr Redwood's experiment be attended with success, the present importation will, doubtless, be the precursor of many others of a similar character in other parts of the colony, for in no country in the. world can the advantage of this great invention in agricultural machines be turned to greater accsunt than in this colony, lo plough up and lay down with artificial grasses where practicable, tbe sheep pastures of this is and, will increase the grazing capabilities of the land at least four times what it is:at present, Mr Kedwood was the first who introduced steam thrashing machines into New Zealand, and his success causes others to follow his example. We nope that a few years hence we shall be able to report ma similar manner of his present experiment. Mr Redwood intends to forward his plough and all the machinery to Marlborough where he has a block of2ooo acres of magnificent land on the bank of the Wairau river, which he is desirous of bringing into immediate cultivation.
