We have Melbourne advices to -the 23rd ult. The commercial news is unimportant. We quote the following from the Argus.: —" The markets are without any important change The feeling of buyers has been tested with respect to several articles, with a I view tothe outgoing mail: - Sugars-have been placed lat previous rates. A speculative movement in tobacco , has led .to.the bulk of half-pounds being* brought into the hands of one holder, and to a rise of 6.i per pound lin tbe quotation. The Cdpe raisins, ex Hero, have | been* offered at auction, but the lots were forthe , most part passed. Teas have not found ready buyers, the cargo of the Energie not having called forth any I buyers at auction. Messrs Fraser and Cohen sold by i auction, at Fo. 2 Shed, the damaged portion of the cargoof the Lise, from Mauritius,— 1006-bags-sugar,; at fair prices, tbe position of the market considered. The" slime .firmToffered, at "their rooms,.. about 1700 boxes Cape raisins, lex steamship Hero, the first arrival of the new fruit. The limit ;was 8d per lb ; -but eventually it was reduced to,7id, with a .view'to clear the shipment, but at this "figure only a few hundred boxes-were sold. They also offered thp cargo of teas,* ex Energie, but sold nothing under the: hammer; but immediately afterwards in the rooms place 11000 half-chests co»£uu. —The price did not transpire. The unusual continuance of wet cold ■weather, no doubt contributes to the great dulness _whicti_prevails in the market„for_tbis staple. Out of tlie same vessel they also sold 150 cases preserved ginper and chow chow, at 21s per case. In their upper rooms, the same firm held a sale of boots and shoes, and disposed of above 300 packages, at prices showing an" advance of from ten to fifteen per cent, on previous sales.''
