Grain trade—Wheat-Millers were anxiously infjUiriDg for wheat today, but very little appeared in tbe market: 7a per bushel ia offered freely, but little or nny business was done. • Oats continue to move off slowly at former quotations ; feed samples fetched 5s 3d to 5s 6d per bushel, delivered in Ohristchurcli; gco.l s;edU scarce, and worth fiom 6s. to 6s &1. A ievr orilcs for shipment have been supplied at 6s, free" on board at the wharf. Barl'-y—Nomii.a*. Peas—Scftvce, anil in demand for seed. ■ Cattle—The demand for cattle is still good. We hear of an inferior mixed mob being fold for LlO per head; ni'ch cow's and working bollocks are eagerly ci quired for, ami high.prices are obtained. Horses.—The immense traffic between Christchurch and the wharves and Port, the numbrr of Government contracts on Land, and the daily substitution ofhorse'S'for bullocks for up country traffic, tends to krep up a demand for useful draught horse?, with which our weekly tales have been -moderately j well supplied. Fast-class draught msies are still enquired for. and afhijmient wouid meet a ready sale at high prices. Mr Barnard sold by auJtion at tho Repository, on Saturday last, 8 dr&unht mares and gel itigp, at pliers varying from L 45 to L7O, averaging 16'J per head ; 13 saddle and light harness horses realised from Ll9 to L 42, and averaged L 32 10s. 4 cows, near calving, were sold ior Llo, and Ll6 10i, —2 for LlB each; 5 yearlings, steers, and heifers at L 4, 2* (Jd ppr head ; 15 steers, 18 months.' old, realised L 8 5s per head.
