THE TOLLING,
We givv below the state of the poll for the Superintendent-}', so far as the returns were received List evening. There can scarcely be a doubt nov, that Sir Harris is elected ; but a day or two may yet elapse before all the returns are received, so as conclusively to settle the matter: —
The Taieri district is'giv,en "as a whole; but it may be interesting to many-to- know the separate returns. They are—East Taieri, 30 ior Harris, and 20 for Richardson; North, 20 and' 4; West,-19 and 5 ; Moeraki Bush, 13 and 8 Major Richardson polled two to one iv the Tokomariro district; but, the 21 votes for Mr Harris-must have been a disagreeable surprise for the Major's supporters, seeing that the district was regarded as peculiaily his. .•,'..
