Its operations will consist of loans and advances on mortgage upon real stcurity in New Zealand, for which the system of public registration of land established there affords great facility, with perfect safety. The Company will also be prepared to make advacees on securities of a su,hstantial character, including those to municipal bodies upon their bonds. It is not* proposed tbs>t more than £5 shall be called upon each £25 share (of which £-i will be sufficient for present purposes), but that to the extent of the remaining £20 per share, the Company' shall exercise its borrowing , powers for procuring money in Great Britain upon debentures for terms of years at a 'fixed rate of interest. This money will also1 be lent in. the same manner as the paid-up j capital, and the lenders will he protected both by th I Securities taken and by the subscribed but uncalled capital, which will itself be equal to. the entire.amqunfc borrowed. New Zealand offers peculiarly favorable opportunities for operations of the nature proposed;: the prosperity of the.settlers enables them to employ-with : profit large sums of money at rates of interest considerably higher'than those ordinarily current in England j the, simplicity of the local, lawsinffecting ireal 'estate affords a safe and inexpensive mode of granting security} and property is. of steadily improving value, as the, energies of the ..cojo'nisti'the increase-o?
