A. shocking case of murder took place on January 7th. in Edinburgh A tradesman named Milne, wellknown as an artistic lnir j 'welle", had the misfortune Intely to become bankrupt. He ha' since been in an excited state and frequently intoxicated. The other day while in that condition lie maile a rush at one of his workmen named Paterson, and stabbed him in the breast, wl> eh produced almost instant death. Milne is now in custody.
An influential meeting was held in Glasgow, on the 13th January, on the invitation of the Lord Provost, to arrange for the proposed banquet to Lord Pidiner>tm.
