We have little to report in anticipation of our sum mary for the overland mail. Cartage to the old and new digging's C3ntinue3 to advance, and drays are much needed to convey the quantity of goods now offering. A large quantity of flour has arrived, but is held'iu first hands, and as the consumption necessarily will be large, holders have determined by mutual agreement to maintain our last quotations ; this is a very proper understanding they have arrived at. Sugars have advanced in value, and various parcels have changed hands in anticipation of a rise. The market continues hire of most descriptions of goods. Some Melbourne merchants have recently visited us and have takeu extensive orders for goods urgently required. Mr Moir, of Moir's Hotel, Manse-street, has fallen into difficulties. The estate is not likely to turn out well.
Export entry for 14 oz 3 dwt of gold was passed at the CustomHouse to-day; the duty paid being LI 15s 64. The Customs Revenue on articles cleared for consumption, amounted to L 1,160 17s : the items being : "—Brandy, 872J gala. L 372 10s 3d ; gin, 359 gals, Ll6l Is ; whiskey. 172 gals, L 77 3d ; rum, 92 gals, L4l 8*; wine, 457 gals, L79ls ; bottled beer, 64 eals. L 3 4s ; ale, 50u erals, Ll-2 10s; tobacco, 2,2311b, L 167 6s 6d ; tea, 975 lb, Ll6 5s ; coffee, 1,943 Ib, L245s 9d ; chicory, 2,210 lb, L 23 ; FUgar, 7,512 Ib, LSI 63 ; miscellaneous, L 123 19s 4d.
