1. Having a Freehold Estate in possession, situate within the district for which, tlie vote is claimed, of the clear value of LSO, above ail charge.-* and incumbrances, and of or to which he has been seised or entitled either at law or in equity lor atleastsix calendar months before the 30th of April; or 2. _ Having a Leasehold Estate in possession, situate within such district, of the clear annual value of ten pounds, held upon a lease which on 30th April shall have not less than three years to run, or of which he has been iv possession for three years or upwards next before 30th April; or 3. Being a Householder within such District, occupying a tenement and residing therein six calendar months previous to 30th April, if within the limits of Dunedin, of the clear annual value of five pounds. The' above form, with description of Districts, is in the " Provincial Government Gazette" of elate 18th Feb., 1863, and the said Gazette may be purchased at Mr A. R. Livingston's, Bookseller, Dunedin, and may be seen at the various Post and Police Oifices out of Dunedin ; and also at the Ferry Houses of the Province. DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICTS FOR THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES WITHIN REFERRED TO. 1. Dunedin and Suburbs Nouth comprises all lands in the Province of Otago bounded on the south by a right lino prolonged from the Harbor of Dunedin through the centre of Stuart-street and centre of the Octagon, Dunedin, until the said line intersects the western boundary aftermentioned ; on the cast by the Ocean ; on the north-west and west by a right line from tlie north-western head of Purakanui Harbor'to the Trigonometrical Station on Flagstaff Hill: thence by aright line towards the mouth of tlie Kaikorai River, until it intersects the above-mentioned right line from the Harbor of Dunedin through Stuart-street. 2. Dunedin and Suburbs South comprises all land in the Province of Otago bounded on the east by the Ocean ;* on'the north by a right line •prolonged from the Harbor of Dunedin through the centre of Stuart-street and centre of tho Octngon, Dunedin, until the said line intersect! the western boundary after-mentioned ; on the south by the Ocean ; on the south-west and west by a right lino from the mouth of the Kaikorai River towards the Trigonometri'-al Station or Flagstaff Hill till it intersects the said north boundary. 3. Bruce is bounded on the north by the Hampden District, from the mouth of the Waikouaiti River to the confluence of the Minzionhuin and Clutha River; thence by a line to the summit of Mount Spylaw • thence down the Spyl.-tw Burn to its confluence with the Pomahaka River; thence on the west by the Pomahaka River to tlie confidence of the Waipahi Creek ; thence by the Waipahi Creek to tlie confluence of the Kawera Creek; thence by a line to the Otaria Peak; thence on the south-west by a line to Cattlin's CoT,e; thence by Cattlin's River to the sea; and thence by the sea to Waikouaiti River-—except-ing the Districts of Dunedin aud Suburbs North, and Dunediu and Suburbs South. 4. Hampden in bounded on the north and north-east by the Heathcote and Tiniaru Districts; on the north-west by the sea; on tbe south-west and south by a lino fiom the head of Milford Haven to the Waikatipu Lake ; thence by that Lake to the Kawaunvu River; thence by* that River to Clutha River ; thence by the Clutha River to the confluence of the Minzionburn ; thence by the Minzionburu to Lnmmcrlaw Peak; thence by a lino to the nearest source of the Deep Stream ; thence down the Deep Stream to its confluence with the Taieri River ; thence by a line due east across the Silver Peak Hills to Cherry Farm Creek; thence down that Creek to its confluence with the Waikouaiti River ; and down the Waikouaiti River to tlie sea; and on the east by the sea. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROVINCIAL DISTRICTS WITHIN REFERRED TO. 1. Dunedin District comprises all that area within the City and Belt, as shown in the Record Maps. 2. Port Chalmers District comprises all that area within the Town aud Belt, as shown in the Record Maps. 3. oaharu Town District comprises all that area within the town boundary, as shown in the Record Maps. i. North Harbor District comprises all that area, bounded on the north by the Ocean; ou the east by tlie Otago Harbor and Port Chalmers Distilet; on tlie south by the Town of Dunedin ; and on the west by the Water of .Leith to its source; thence to- the Waitati Stream from it source to the Ocean. 5. Peninsula District comprises all that ar a bounded on the north by Otago Harbor ; on the east by the Ocean ; on the soutli by the Ocean; and on the west by Block VII Town District, and that road-line running direct from Hillside to the Ocean Beach. 6. Waikari District comprises all that area ■ bounded on the north by the northern boundary of Block V, Dunedin and East Taieri District; * on the east by the Water of Leith and Town of Dunedin ; on the south by that road-line running from Maclaggan-street to Look-out Point; thence by a direct line through Trig Stations V and D to that road-line running along the Kaikorai Ranges; on the west by that road-line towai-ds • Stoney Knowe, and the western boundary of Block V Dunedin and East TaieriDistrict. 7 Green Island and Caversham District comprises all that area bounded on the north by Waikari, Dunedin, Otago Harbor aud Peninsula District; on the east and south by the Ocean; and on the west by the Kaikorai and Abbott'a Creeks, and by the .western boundary of Block VI, Dunedin and Fast Taieri District, and that " road leading along the Kaikori Ranges. 8. Taieri District comprises ail that area bounded on the north by Sutton's Stream, the Taieri River, the Allan Creek; thence by the' Water Shed of the Silver Peak Hills to Swampy Hill; on the east by Waikari, Caversham, and Green. Island Districts, and the Ocean ; on the south by the Taieri, Waipori Lake and River to its source; and on the weft by the Water Shed of the Lammerlaw Ranges. 9. Waihola District comprises all that area bounded on the north by Taieri District; on the east by the Ocean, by Akatore Stream, and the ■ southern boundaries of Blocks 111. V, VI, Cla-. rendon District, Blocks I and 11, Waihola Lake District; and on the west by the western boun- • dary of Block I, Waihola Lake District, aud Blocks. 10. Tokomairiro District comprises all that area bounded on the north by Friiidburn, Taieri, and Waihola Districts; on the east by tbe Ocean; oa the south by the Waugaloa Creek to Trig. Sta- ] tion I, thence hy Fraser and Lovell's Creeks to Mount Stuart, thence by Dull Burn andtheWaitahuna; and on the west by the Clutha River. 11. Matau District, including ■ Kaitanoata and Inch Clutha comprises all that area • bounded on the north by T 'komalriro District; on the east by the Ocean : and on the south and west by the Clutha River, and its southern arm. 12. Clutha District comprises all- that area bounded on the north by the Waikaka and Pukerau Streams, thence by a swamp and the Waipahee; thence by the water shed of the Tapanui . Ranges to the Fruidburn Junction, thence by Tokomairiro and Matau districts, on the east and and south by the Ocean; and on the west by the Mataura 13. Lindis District comprises all that area bounded on the north by the Province of Canterbury; on the east by the Kurow River and Mountains; on the south by the Hawkdun and St. BathanV Mountains, the Cluden, Lindis, Clutha, and Tin** wald ; thence by the watershed of Mounts Pisa and Earnslaw; arid on the west thence by the • Snowy Ranges to Canterbury Province. 14. Mah tj-Erikia. District comprises all that area bounded on the north by the Lindis District; oa the east by the Kyeburn, Rock and Pillar Mountains, and the LaramerJaw Ranges j on the south by Tokomairiro District; and on the west by the Clutha; thence to Mount Benger. and by . the Obelisk and Carrick Ranges and Doubl,# Rock to Mount Pisa. 15. Wakatip District comprises all that ar«a bounded on the north by the Province of Canterbury ; on the east by the Lindis, Manuherikia, and Clutha Districts ; on the south by the Pi 0- . vince of Southland and the Ocean; and on tho west by the Ocean. i 6. Oamaru Country District comprises all that . area bounded on the aorth by the Waitaki: on . the east by the Ocean and Oamaru Town Dis ' trict; on' the south by the Horse Ranges and Kakanni Mountains; and on the west by the 7 Manuherikia and Lindis District— 17.
