Her freight of coal is consi"ned to Captain M'Kinnon, who has also the Ore"on°antl Star of .Tasmania in port, for the supply of the Melbourne steamers. In addition to other freight,' Captain Egscrs lias brought from Newcastle a very handsome four-oared boat, purchased in Sydney, "by Captain Hye for the Port Chalmers Amateur Boatinf Club. 'She is a boat forty-two feet in length, built of po ished cedar, and as her build is so close a copy of some of the finest river boats in England that no other boat in New Zealand is likely to be a match forever. Oft' the West Cape, Captain Eggers sighted a large ship full of passengers, supposed to be bound or Gtflgo. The Gil Bias, from Hobart Town, sailed on the 7th instant, up to whict» date we have local papers from Captain Giles, who reports a ship and a barque on the coast, apparently bound hither. The American barque Ocean Bride, discharged Greatest part of her freight, including 50 horses, at the Bluff, and only brings rine horses to tliis port along with a number of her original shipment of sheen/the loss amont? which has been very considerable ' She reports tlie safe arrival of the Blue Jacket at the' Bluff, with the lo*a of only one sheep out of the several thousands on board. At the Bluff, Mr Scott.C. E. was busy with his preparations for floating the Flying Mist, and was in expectation of coinmencinu: active operations at an early date. The barque Isabella, from Hobart Town, after discharging her horses at th« Porf, proceeded to town in the afternoon. Including horses, opossums, poultry, parrots, and pigeons in endless variety the Isabella is on this occasion more like a floating menagerie than an ordinary trader She brings the largest and most varied assortment cf pigeons, parrots, and other descriptions of birds that have yet been received in Otago, the whole stock forming a very valuable and attractive lmportaWThe ship City of Melbourne set sail from the anchorage ontside the Heads this lorenoon. It is understood that fhs proceeds thence to India. _ The ship Chile has been further detained by having her flvin" jib-boom and sprit-sail yard carried away this moraine; by contact with the wizen-rigging of the ship Hydra, as that vessel was in the act of getting under way. As the necessary repairs will soon ta executed she will probably be towed out to-morrow or the day following.
