Drunkenness.—George Johnson and Jolim Duff were fiued 20s each and costs, for being drunk ; in. default of payment, to be imprisoned 48 hpui'3.

Having PassE3sios op Stoles Property.— Jacob Zimmer, charged with having:, stolen plate and other property in'his possession, wa3, on the application of Detective Bsckley, remanded ior three dnys. .

Charge "against a Sailor.—Henry Burgesi, a seaman, was charged by John Roberts, master of th« brisrantine Swordfish, with having, on- Sunday, been, guilty of wilful disobedience of lawful commands. The mate stateil that on Sunday evening, the prisoner refused to so aft when the hands were called to attend to some of the cattle in the hold; and subsequently, on being told to take his watch over tho cattle, lie replied that he would not, and that '' tho bullocks might be " The Prisoner, in lus defence, said that the mate was in his bunk when it was lII* watch ; that he (the prisoner) went aft to the winch when the hauds were called, as his shipmates were ready to testify; that lie was himself ordered to keep watch when tiie mate knew that it was not his turn for that dv ty, and that that order was given because he interfered when the mate was severely punching1 one of the bullocks. The Captain (who was on shore at the . time of tb« occurrence) said that the prisoner had been very much dissatisfied of late without cause; except that, there being a pood deal of money owing to him, he wanted to get his discharge. The prisoner was sent to gaol for two days, to be kept to hard labour, and the -Magistrate ordered tint he should be put on board before the ship sailed ou Thursday, and should forfeit four days pay. i •

Kennedy, of the Robert Burns 'public house,' George-streei', was summoned for having, on Sunday last, Kept his licensed liousa open after seven d'clolc in the evening, coiitrary to the 6th secthn of the Licensing (Inlinance.—Serjeant Cuvran stated that he saw people goina; in and out of the'house at halfpast nine on Sunday evening; and on' enteriugr he found three men in the bar and three f>-la escs containing beer on the counter. The Defendant said that the men :were liis'landlord-and two friends.
