DUNEDIN LIVE STOCK MARKET.

DitivEß, Maclean and Co, report for week end' ing 22nd November, 18G2 :—

Fat Cattle—The week's supply has been much larger than usual : say 70 head Provincial cattle, and 80 head ex H, S. Page, from Gippa Laud, besides & few ex Valiant and Lombard from Wellington, A large proportion are, however, but little better than stores, and cannot be sold in this market as fat. The arrival of the H. S. Page, with the first cargo of cattle from Gipos Land, after a short passage of seven days, has caused a considerable excitement j our butchers knowing the quality and condition in which those cattie have been landed, are not inclined to supply themselves with inferior stock. The sale will be held at our Yards on Wednesday, 26"th, and although the market is just now in a very unsettled .state, we see no reason for changing our late quotations: say Ist quality 70s per 200 Jbs ; 2nd do ; 50s do. Fat Calves.- Continue in good demand at from £4 10s to £6, according to age and quality. Stork Catilk.—The demand for first-class stores continues active. We have sold one or two small lots (Wellington cattle) at from £1010s to £13, for mixed sexesfrom 2to 7 years old. We quote herds, mixed ages and sexes, at from L 9 10s to Lll 10s. We have had two cargoes from Wellington—9o head, ex Lombard, and 55 head ex Valiant. Although the H. S. Page has made a remarkable passage of seven days from Gipps Land, without the loss of any cattle, we do not look upon her present good luck as an average of future voyages. The owners of the vessel and cattle estimate the freight at L 8 per head, and so long as shippers are obliged to pay this rate of freight we cannot expect many stores to come from that District.

Working Bullocks and Dairy Cows.—We have sold several teams of bullocks at L 65 to L7O per pair, and a number of quiet young steers for breaking in at L 45 to LSO per pair; the demand continue* active. We have orders in hand for a large number. First-class dairy cows are scarce, and saleable a' LlB toL-0.

Fat Sheep.—The supply ha*. been confined to importations from Wellington and Victoria—say 500 in all—which we disposed of at from 28s to 325. There have been no Provincial sheep to hand ; most of our runholders are so busy preparing for shearing We qaote prime mutton, shorn, 8d per lh; do, in wool. 9d per lb. , s _ Store Sheep.—Transactions have b~en rery limited, buyers seem inrlined. to wait until later in the season iv hopes of a reduction in prices. We have sold 1,600 wethers, immediate delivery, near the Molyneux, at 335, in wool. We quote New Zealand bred ewes, 2, 4, 6 tooth, at 27s to 30s j do wethers, at 25s : imported ewes, 24s to 265; do wetheis, 22s to 21s.

Station Property.—We hear of no transactions during the week. There are several good Runs in the market, which will doubtless change hands after shearing. Houses.—The large number that-have come to hand within the past fortnight, has somewhat lessened the demand; most of those offered in the past week, were of a very inferior stamp. We shall sell on Monday, Mr Lascelles lot, ex William Ackers, from Weelong,—a yeiy superior lot. We see no reason for changing our late quotations—viz.. first-class draueht LBO to LIOO, medium draught L 45 to 65, light harness and superior hackneys langefrom L 35 to L6O. Dbivee, Maclean and Co., Stock and Station Agents, Dunedin.

Weight, Robertson and Co's Report for the week ending November 22nd, 1862 :— There has been a fair supply of cattle and sheep to hand this week. Prices are ruling slightly lower than last quotations, and we anticipate a still further decline, owing partly to the arrival of several cargoes of cattle and sheep at our port (one of 88 head ofdttle from Gipps Land, in excellent order), and partly owing to the warm weather and fine herbage bringing stock all over the Island rapidly into a fit condition for market. . Fat Cattle.—We quote priirie bullocks at from L 25 to L2B per head ; second quality from LlB to L2O; medium and inferior about Ll6; good cows from LlB to L 22 Say first quality from 60s to 65s per hundred; second quality from 50s. Fat Calvks.—Very few offering. They are worth from L 4 to L 7, according to quality and weight. Store Cattle.—There is an increasing demand for this class of Several transactions having taken place during the week, but the prices have not transpired. We quote well bred herds at from Lll to LI 3, prices varying according to age, condition, and place of delivery. • ; . Working Bullocks and Dairy Cows.—The former are in great request, and would, bring from L6O to L7O per yoke. Good milkers, with calves at foot, or in good milk, are worth from L2O to L 22. Fat Sheep.—The Market has been tolerably brisk this week; good wethers, in wool, are bringing from 35s to 40s per head; shorn, 30s to 355; good lambs, 25s per head. Store Sheep.—Good, large-framed wethers, in wool, 32s to 34s ; ewes, from 28s to 30s, New Zealand bred, or acclimatised. Station Property.—Nothing doing, prices being still to high, either for investment or.speculation. Horses.—The market still remains firm for all first-class descriptions ot stock, especially heavy draught horses. Owing to the recent importations and expected arrivals, there,, has been a. somewhat downward tendency, in. horses s±i an inferior stamp. We do not expect any depreciation will take place in the value of good draught horses, suitable to. our requirements, owing to* the increased demand in, the interior. We quote -firstclass heavy draught at from LBO to X 100; second .-class, LSO to L7O. Pack-horsed, from L3O to L4O. Firstclass hacks from L6O and upwards. Inferior light harness, saddle or pack, from L2O to L3O, and dull of sale. *
