The ship Chile, from L. mlon, after being detained halfway up the channel, in consequence of the strong south-westerly wind, was towed up to-day by the t'amson. As previously reported, the Chile has had a fine passage, excelling any of 1 er former trips to this province. She sailed from Gravesend on the U9ih of August, carrying; 139 second-class and steerage passengers, and 14 in the cabin. 8S of her passengers are assisted female immigrants. She landed her pilot at Deal on the same afternoon, proceeding down channel with lijiht and variable winds from the north and west. On the Sunday afternoon she parted with the channel pilot off the Ftart, where he was promptly taken off by the royal yacht Pauline, through the kindness of Captain Hogg. The ship then put to sea, having tine weather out of the Channel. Crobsing the Bay of Biscay had strong N. W. winds. On the 4th September spoke the barque Georuiana Greenfield, from Swansea to Calde*a; theninlat.7° 24'W..andkmg.24° 3'W. All well on board. Approached the equator in long. 30 W. crossing it on the night of the 22nd, being 22 days from the Start. Experienced light S.E. trades, and on the 25th passed the Island of Fernando Noronba, about two mile« to the leeward. On October Ist, exchanged signals with the Curensc, a Portugese barque, from Oporto, bound to Kio Grando, with passengers, all well. At noon of Thursday, the 2nd, sailed between the Martin Vas and Trinida Islands. On the Bth, occured a birth : Mrs Montgomery, wife of Captain A. Montgomery, Alnwich Lodge, Ayrahire, of a daughter. On tfie 10th, passed the Island of Tristan d' Achuna; on snme day, exchanged signals with ship Conway, from Southampton to Moreton Bay, 54 days out, a'l well. This was the 41sfc day out, and so fine had the wind been, that the main skysail had only been stowed 24 hours. Passed south of McDonal * Island on the morning of the 31st October. In lat. 53.48 S., had a good deal of snew and very unsettled weather, -— no steady wind for twelve hours together. Lowest temperature 29 °on deck, on the night of Ist November in lat, 53° 30' 8. Pafeed the longitude of Cape L«nwiiron the Bth, in latitude 51 ° S. On the 16th a heavy sea struck the ship on the poitside, and broke the bulwarks and stanchions, split the covering board, and sto c the main hatch-hou&e, and flooded the lower decks, causing considtrable temporary inconvenience to the pas sengers. Has also upwards of- 200 sheep, and some cargo. She left Geelonp: on V! onday week^ and a passenger states that in passing Queenscliffi it was reported that the English mail had been telegraphed from Adelaide. ' The Sea Gull, from Auckland, was supposed to have arrived at the Heads; but has not yet appeared. She was passed off Cook's Straits by the Albatross, which is our last arrival from Auckland.
