DUNEDIN LIVE STOCK MARKET.

Drives, Maclean & Co.-V Report for week

ending November 15, 18G2,

Fat Cattle.—The week's supply (say.ss head) has not been .sufficient to sat!s ry iln demand. Those offered'were fair quality, but light weights, and prices" realized, show a slight advance on late quotations. ■

We do not anticipate any decline in value of cattle (good quality) for some iime, us the demand foe the various diggings continues active.

' We know oi'several lots inteiide-i for this market, which., have been sold for the Dunstan, and other diggings.

• We have sold during the week at the yards. 52 head, from the Canterbury Province, (mostly cows) at an average of £21 per head. We quote first qualify at 703 to 75s per lOOlbs. ■ ~ second do, at 50s to .55s do. Fat Calvbs.—None to be had ; good quality would be salable at L 4 10 to L 6 10s, according to age. Stork Cattle. - We have to note a more active demand for good stores, it having been ascertained that cattle cannot (at present) be landed from Gipps Land at a less price than is demanded by holders of good 'Provincial' herds. We'have sold Mr J. H. Caton's mob, 223 head, from Canterbury, at Ll3 os! net. cash • this was, however a very supprior lot, a larger proportion being fit for the butcher Well bred mixed herds are saleable at L 9 to Lll, ■according to condition and place of delivery. Woukixg- Bullocks akd Datry Cows.—None of either class have come to baud during the week. The demand for the former is very great, and won d meet ready |sale at LfiO to L7O per pair. First-class dairy cows are saleable at LlB to L2O.

Fat Siikkp.—Ait-hough there aie a large number of fat sheep offered for sale in this province and iv Canterbury, we hear of but few having started for this market; at the present time holders are uskina more than buyers arc willing to give. Number in 400, being rather an inferior lot, we sold at 7JM to 8.1 per lb shorn. We also sold a lot of 150, ex Austral, from Adelaide, at 16s Gd each, these had been very flood sheep when shipped, bat were nearly destroy eel by the voyage. Our butchers are quite bare of anything like Guod nvuttou, which would readily brin«----8.1 \kt lb shorn, or 9d in the wool. °

Stoke Sheep.—There being no disposition on the part of holders to reduce prices to meet the -views c f those inclined to speculate, but few lots hare changed hands; we have frequent inquiries for young ewes and acclimatised wethers at prices as follows:— say, New Zeah-nd bred ewes, 27s to 30s; do do wethers.. "25s to 27s ; imported do ewes. 2is to 26>: do welhsra. 22<t0245.

Station Property;. -W-j have numerous inquiries, tor runs, with or w.thout stock, hut buyers are not willing to pay the prices' demanded by .owrers. We havo one or two valuable properties for public Sitlo early iv January. Huhses.—During the past week sundry consignment? of horses have come to hand, but they have not been of the description wanted to meet the requirements of this market. Consequently, w.j have to j-eport a slight falling off in demand, or rather a lossoninffof that eagerness to purchase, so forcibly exhibited the week previous, solely owing to the fact of tha shippers purch.-ising hor.?<->3 -of too light a stamp. Th-:* market has been comparatively bare of young sound draught stock, for whicli the demand still remain.? as great as ever; and what few have come to hand have met with immediate sale at prices vory satisfactory to the speculator. There is no material change in puces. Our quotation is as follows : -First-class dniu^ht stock, LBa to J.I 0 • medium ifraught, L4sto*L7sj li^iit harness hors.-s' L 35 to L4j ; superior hacks range as high as L7O ; I pack horses, from L 25 to L 45. Dkivkr, >'aolkak and Co., Stock and Station Salesmen, Dunedin. WRraiiT, Rodkutson and Cos. Report for the ! weoU. ended Nov. 15th 2302. We have lift c change to note in our market during j the past week, pries -being generally siightiy in a«l----l vanco of last w ek's quotations, owing to cattle ' o-iviinaliy intcndo.i for this market, bjing' taken up to I t!ie lJiuifitnn and other diggings. Fat Cattlk. -We quits priirn qua'ity bullocks at from £2o to £& per heal", modium from Lls to L2'2, hying from uos ro 05; per hundred. Fat Cai.vks are much in dsmaud, at from L 4 10s to Li per head. tiTOHE Cattlts. — Several mobs have changed j hands during the we-.k. at from Lll to LI3 5s per liasd. We have disp=«sd of one lot of 200 head of | well bred provincial cattle, equal sexes, from 2 to 4 years old, at Ll2 12s per head We lnve aiso sold at our yards, n lot of dairy cattle in poor condition. Heifers and Ca;ve.s at foot, at fro.v Lll 10s upwards ; and a k\v quiet 3 year old steers for yoking, at L 22 10s per head.

Won king- Bullocks.—There is a great enquiry for good teams, which are worth from LoO to L7O per pair.

I'at Shekp.—The market 'is poorly supplied at present, owing to shearing being- general throughcut the couufry. Prime sheep in wool are worth here 9d to 101 per lb. Stoke Sh^ep.—Store Ewes, 4 to 6, tooth are in demand at about 30s per head ; and there are several bnyer&.in the market at about this figure. Station Property.—We hear of no transactions during tha past wusk. Honsiis. A good number have arrived during the week from Tasmania, Adelaide, and Victoria, in excellent condition, and with very little 10-s on ship-board,-say about 2 per cent, in general. The*} Irive met with ready sale at fuily last week's quota: ions. The market still remains firm, and is likely to remain so, owing to the demand for the Dunstan, and for the interior generally. We quote first-class heavy draucrlit at from LBO to LIOO. hacond class LSO to L7O. First class hacks and superior li-ht harness from L4O to L6O. Inrerior, from L2O to L 35.
