By the Spi-ay, we hitve commercial advices from Sydney, to the 24th ult. extract the following from the Sydney Empire.
Emjiire Office, Thursday Evening. Produce Repoht.—To-day the usual public sales were held. Messrs.Mort and Co. catalogued twentyeight bales ot wool, consisting of smaii parc.-ls of mixed, and wools in grease, of which twenty-four bales were Koid; giensy wools briny ing froirwd to 9d, and mixed, from 3d lo lid p."r lb. Sheepskins : Five lots, c mprisiiig close upon 2,000 r,k ins, were offered, and disposed of at od to (Jd for oninary, and 6^'i to 7^d f>r fuil-wooled in fair to good condition. Tallow ; Only seventeen casks were catalogued, and these sold at lull ratts—say 34s Gd to 35s for ordinary, and 3Gs 1 ci- cwt for good beef. Hicks : There was still considerable reluctance so buy, and prices obtained-were aflout the same as last week. Upwards ot 1,000 were offered, and's72 were dis-nosed of at 3s 3J to 8s 9d for interior, U» to 10s for ordiuury, and 10s 9d to lls 3d for medium weights. Ebswortli's sale comprised only three bales of Northern wool in greasu, free from seed, which realised 9^d .per lb. Sheepskins: Some considerable parcels were offered, nnd sold for s^d to G^d per )b. One lot cowsisiing of seven bales, was Jight-woolled, and the remainder, though full-wot-lk-d. were troubled with burr. Tallow:'43'casks were off rod and disposed of at 34s Gd to 35s for inferior, 35a 3d to 35s 9d for ordinary, and 36s to 3(Js 3d for good bt-ef tallow. One cask of mutton tailow sold for 37s 6d per cwt. Hides : 101 only \ver« otrtred, and were disposed of as follows—lG dry hides, 5s 6-J ;22 medium salted, 10s 9d; 30 good well cured heavy, Is 3d, and 93 ditto, 12s ,9,1 cnc!\
Mr J. G Coh-.'n reports having held an extensive sale of tobacco, yes-tmhiy, at Leigh's bonded stores. There \v;is :i largo attendance and disposition to purchase. Tobacco solJ, out of condition, with all faults, portion damaged —54 half-tierces ncgrohend, 80 quarter tierces do, 25C boxes cavendish. fcheilards, .with all faults, 4s 2d, damaged, &> to 3s 7d • Carrier Dove, all faults, Us 7d to 3s 8d ; Sovereign, much tkmngcd. 2.s>d to Ss lOd ; Crown, It. J. and Co.. ail faults, 3s7;*d toSsll.^d; Quarter-tierces, Sovereign, damaged, 2s 10.1 to 3s Id ; about 25G boxes cavendish, various brands, damaged, Is lOd to 2s, all faults, 2sUdto2s9£d. * Messrs Lyons, Stokes and Co. report having sold at their rooms, to-day, a large parcel of teas, ex Maury, which realised the following prices -.—Extra fine congou tea, Ll2 10s per ch^t; do, LI 18s per box; fine congou, L 9 17s b'd per chest; do, Li 12s 6d per box; extra choice congou. '.-. 95s per chest; do, Ll 10s per box; choice congou, L 8 per chest; do, Ll Gs per box: fine flavored oi n;,e p<;koe, 2s 6d perlb. Also, confectionery, in 1 1': j rs, 1 "as 6'd ; 2 Ib jars in tins, 21s ; lemon cream, L>> ; etiuers, 9s; sauces, 7s 6d and Bs.
The cargo of Ihe Made.a, consisting of Mauritius sugars and dates, will be 50!.;,-by auction, to-morrow (this day), by Messrs L E. Threlkeld and Co.
