The Township pf Palmerston is situate at the entrance of the Waihenu Valley, in the neighborhood of Paketapu, about 35 miles from Dunedin, 40 from Oamaru, and 8 from VTaikouaiti. There is a good supply of Timber in the neighborhood, and, Coal is obtainable at Vulcan Point, a distance of 6 miles The town is intersected by the main road to the Dunstan chgeings from Waikouaiti, and is situate in the centre of one of the finest agricultural districts in this Province. Limestone of a superior quality to any hitherto obtained, has lately been discovered. From its situation at the junction of the main North and South roads, with the road to the interior and the diggings ; it is believed Palmersfon will become the centre of a large traffic, and is destined to be one of the chief inland towns of Otago.
