Respecting Deserter iroin the Army and Navy. Attorney-General's Office, Auckland, sth April, 1862. FREQUENT instances having occurred of De sertion from Her Majesty's Sea and Lan Forces in this Colony, Notice is hereby given, that the most rigorous proceedings will be taken against any person enticing away, harboring, concealing, or employing Deserters. The enactments relating to the above olience are subjoined for information. FRANCIS D. FENTON, Assistant Law Officer. CLAUSES OF IMPERIAL ACTS RELATING TO DESHIITEBS. Naval Desertion. 10 and 11 Viet., chap. 62, sec. 11. And be it enacted, That every person who, b words or any other means whatsoever, shall persuade aiiy person in Her Majesty's Navy to desert, or improperly absent himself from his duty, shall forfeit and pay the sum of twenty pounds for every such act; and every person who shall assist or procure any person in Her Majesty's Navy to desert, or improperly absent himself from his duty j or shall conceal employ, or continue to employ any person belonging o Her Majesty's Navy, who fc'liali be a deserter, or mproperly absent from las duty, knowing him to be uch a deserter, or &o improperly absent, shall forfeit and pay the sum of thirty pounds for every such assistance, procurement, concealment, employment, or continuing of employment, as aforesaid.'* I Marine -l-'esejitioh. 21 Viet., cap. 7, sec. £>i.
