(To the Editor of the OTAGO DAILY TIMES.)
Dear Sin,—ln your issueofthe 29th inut., your Rpecial correspondent states that the price of mutton has been raised here to fifteenpence per pound, and as there are only two slaughtermen here, he thinks they must have everything- their own way. Now, Sir, my name is John M'Gregor, and I am the only^ party killing sheep on Waitahuna. I have been j furnishing tha butchers at from sevenpence to tenJeface per pound (never more than tenpence), and, of course, 1 must buy and Bell so as to leave a profit to j myself. ! If the butchers choose to retail their mutton at fifteenpence, it.is not roy fault, aud I can assure your I correspondent that he has made a mistake when he stated that I had taken advantage on account of being the only party here killing sheep. By inserting these few linea, you will oblige, Yours truly, JOHN M'GmEGOR, Waitahuna Plat. October Ist, 1862.
