LANCASHIRE REMKP FUND,
The following is a copy of the letter forwarded wifcu the first remittance on account of the Lancashire Relief Fund. To the Secretary und Treasurer Lancashire Relief Fund. Dunedin, Otagq, New Zealand, September, 18,1862. Dear Sir, —Accompanying this letter, you will receive from the Bauk. of New South Waleß, London, a Draft for £500, which has been raiswd in this Province to alleviate, as far as our means allow, the distress now so deeply felt in many parts ol your country. I am desired by the Committee to request you to employ the money in any way you may deem most productive of lasting benefit. Should assisted emigration be thought advisable, we trust that this Province may receive coasidenition. At the same lime we wish to leave you entirety uninfluenced in its employment, our only hope b ing that our trifling contribution may be productive of some good. I forward, by the mail, copies of daily papers for your information, and trust by next mail to have a farther remittance to send you.
