(To the Editor of the DAILY TIMES.)
Sir,—On reading the paper of this day, I find a paragraph there, stating that it is a difficult thing to nnd men who are rapable and willing to follow the profession of chimney sweeps, and when found the price is so exorbitant, that they will not employ them. Now I, as one of four, and a practical chimney sweep in the old country, and Victoria as well consider it is not our fault, as i have walked Dunediu through and through, sailing from house to house without getting more than from five to seven chimneys per week, besides paying for advertising for weeks together, without receiving any benefit from it, and that the exorbitant price I have ever charged lias been 53.- per chimney, which I think is moderate enough, considering that you have to do them at all hours in the ni^ht, and all I can say now, is if the inhabitants will not keep their chimneys clean, they inusj expect some of tliese days to see the town all in flame?, and I am astonished it has not occurred before, when I see the bad state of some of the chimneys, and if & fire does occur, it will be their own faults not the sweeps'.
