It is » further proposal always to keep in view the im- | portance of making such arrangements as will ensure 1 the griduai but certain expansion of the Company'" eperation3> " [ The termination of the Wellington Steam Nariga- . tion Cowj»any, by effluxion of time, and the encourt aging success which haa attended ita working—the important benefits it has been the means of conferring upon this and the other Ports of New Zealand, by supplying the means of quick and regular communication, have led the prymoters of the projected Company to ask thr-ir fellow-colonists to unite with them in forming a Company oa a larger basis, not confined aa the preceding one was to purely local traffic, but one with more general views and objects, to be called "The New Zealand Steam Navigation Company (Limited)." ~ . 1 The prwect time appears to be a most favorable opportunity for inaugurating a Company having such views; as there is every reason to believe that throughout the whole Colony we are on the e\e of important event»,and that population and trade is rapidly on the increase. The Company entertain no doubt that they will very soon bo in a position to tender to perform some partion of the Inter-Provincial Mail Service—an.l itia believed that the General Government and Uie various Provincial authorities would readily avail them selves of the services of vessels owned by a Ne?> Zealand proprietary, and directed by local, energetic, and responsible Management. The great successrof the various Australian Steam Companies leave little doubt that similar results will Ihj secured by a New Zealand Steam Comany, established on a broad and permanent basis, susceptible of expansion, with a view to meet the requirements of ( that prosperous future which it is believed will cert tainly and shortly be realised in New Zealand. It is consequently proposed that an Association should bo formed, having a Capital of £50,000 (with power to increase it), in shares of £10 each; aud the ! . co-operation and assistance of «etUers throughout i the Colony is Invited. A considerable number of i sbarerwUl bo reserved for allotment for persons re- i Biding in the neighboring Provinces.
