THE HOAXf ASD PAVBXEXT3 IS SIASSE ASD HIQHSTRE3STS. Mr. Switzer siid it appeared to him that there was a certain amount of " aeyiannodatiira" coin"- on in making Hiffh-street and Manse-street, to the benefit of particularbnilding3. He alluded particularly to the corner opposite Mrs, Dawson's honse. It was no use blinking the feet, aad he desired that such ' things should be at once stoppeJ. ■ - - The Clerk said that Mrs. Dawson's footpath was about a foot too low. y Mr. Switzer could not see why streets" should be levelM off in a particuhr way to suit Mrs. Dawson or anybody else, ThsCierk said that Mr. Poeppe', the surveyor, marttfcl the proper level on the doorway, but that it Tiad not been regarded.. Mr. Jenkinsou said that these two streets would be very expensive, aad itwonld never do to pitch and metal the road and then to hare to raise it. Jin Switzer said that the roid waa now being made to suit certain footpaths, instead of tha paths beine made to suit the road levels adopted by the Board. Mrs. Dawson had pertinaciously refused to reeo^uifie the level given for her footpaths, and now it seemed she could get some one to'accommodate the footpaths * as made. r The Chairman thon»ht the 80- t rd should at once ' deßids this important question. Both Mn Ciievannfs and Mr. Boss had spoken to him about the difficulty of de-dihg with the corner, oa account of Mrei Daw-onV footpath bang a foot too low. He told them that they would hire to "build a retaining wall to keep up the roadway. > Mr. Switzer : Build a retainingwaill I shoold say certainly not. >: ■;; ■-•,■-. Mr. Switzer approved this motion, and seconded it; and it was unanimously adopted.
