THE GRASMERE.
Tie following is the Immigration Agent's report upon this vessel:— .
The Immigration Agent reports, for the informatiou of the Government, that the barque Grasmerc arrived in port, on Friday,-the sth inst, after a protracted passage from the Clyde of 127 lay.-?. She brought 105 souls, 30 of whom were unmarried females assisted by the Provincial Government, the remainder having paid their own passages. They appear to be a very superior class of immigrants, and well iidnptett for supplying the wants of the Colony. AH, without a sniffle exception, expressed themselves as hhhly satisfied with the treatment they received on board, and spoke in high terms of Mr. -Douglas.- tiw surgeon-superintendent, to whose unwearied eli'ji'fe thy health of the immigrants is mainly owing. Doth tit.? cxptaiu and the surgeon testified "to the goad ■ conduct of'the female immigrants; and the Immigration Aijsnt also reports that since their arrival the same good conduct and prudence characterised their proceedings in the barkicH where they have a room for themselves. Yesterday, with the except! ->n of a few who had friends in the Colony, they were engaged at wages averaging from L35 to "L4O per annum. Colin Allan, Immigration Agent. 9th September, 1862. -
