THE PORT ROAD.
ROAD, {To the Editor of the Daily Times.) Sir,—-Permit me to call attention throueh your columns, to the disgraceful state of tbe i*ort Chalmers Road, more particularly tbe part between here and Mount Pleasant. I shall not attempt to describe it, but merely tell you that it beats the worst parts of Dnnedm, and what makes tbe matter worse, this is the only road that leads anywhere: firewood, timber, stone, in fact anything requiring carting, has got to go through tins alough of despond, and as a matter of course, has got to be paid for rather dearly. How, sir, on the road going to Blueskin, there are about 150 men at work for the Government, and surely out of this large number^ few could be well , snared to reader our poor road somewhat passable. There are many other things much wanted down here, but &is is the most urgent, as the road is actually dangerous. Trusting this will be the means of directing the attention ofthe authorities to the matter, and apologising for thus trespassing on your space, I am sir, yours truly, T. M. S. Pert Chalmers, July 30.
