SYDNEY.
(From the Telegraphic Despatches of the Argus.) Sydney, Wednesday. An advertisement, stating the particulars of the '■ attempt of some person unknown to blast the char-: acter of Mrs. Bentley, pianist, and including even ; threats of murder it she did not cease to play in public, has caused much discussion. A proclamation in the Government Gazette prohibits for six months all importation of cattle from Victoria, except such as are examined at crossing places, on the. Murray, at Mulwallaand Chowella. A correspondent from the Lachlan states that general receipts are very good, and the shepherding system prevents any from starving ; but much distress may; be looked for as winter advances. Adelaide, Wednesday. , A man, named M.ilachi Martin, has been committed for trial for the murder of his servant-girl, at the Salt Greek, Wellington. The Government have tabled resolutions in the House of Assembly for the amendment of the Constitution Act, giving extra votes to property. The flour market remains the same.
