. Dunedin Customs, May 17, 18G2. The quantity of gold entered to-day amounted to 31,707 ozs, 18grs., upon which the duty levied was £3,963 10s. ICd. The imports realised £518 12s. lid. We learn from the letter, of'our 'Wellington correspondent that the New Zealand Bank has declared a dividend of (5 per cent, for the half year. The fourth instalment on shares is to hs paid on the 18th August. ■. '_".■;; Messrs. E. De Carle and Co. report that business is still brisk. Most articles have been taken at an advanced rate,-owing to news received fiom Spain and Hayannah. Cigars have advanced considerably. Tobacco is-held for advanced r^tes. They have sold ordinary Havarmahs at Lls per. thousand. Prime jcolonial butter is inquired after, and sales have been " effected at.ls. lid. Cork rose,'ls. 2d., and common ,at Cijd. Good teas liave advanced .at least. 203. per chest, and several sales, made. Guaranteed hams are sought after at Is. 4Kd.
