ATTEMPTED SHOOTING BY A LUNATIC.

A singular case of attempted homicide occurred yesterday at Forbury. An old man, nearly 70 years of age, named George Knox, who has lately been in the employ of Mr. Fulton as a gardener, attempted the life of another man by firing two shots at him. He also threatened another person that he would run him through with a knife. It appeal's that the old man, who has only been seven months in the Province, has lately shown symptoms of being what is termed " cranky," supposed to be the effect of drink. Information of the attempt was at once given to the police, and the old man was arrested as a dangerous lunatic. He will be brought up at the Besident Magistrate's Court this morning.
