Proclamation, by John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province ot Otago, New Zealand. —In pursuance of the power and authority vested in me in that behalf, I do hereby fix and proclaim that the Fifteenth Session of the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago aforesaid, shall be liolden within the Provincial Council Hall, Dunedin, in the said Province, and shall commence upon WEDNESDAY, the Sixteenth day of April, 1862, at twelve o'clock noon ; and the members of the said Council are hereby warned to give their attendance at the said time and place accordingly. I EDWARD CROKER, duly appointed Returning , Officer of the above Mining District, und.er a Proclamation by his Honor the Superintendent of Otago, dated the sth day of March, 1862, do hereby give notice that the election of seven persons to serve on the Gabriel's District Mining Board, will take 1 t)lace at Holmes' and Wetherley's Hotel, junction Gabriel's Gully, on THURSDAY, the 24th day of April, 1802, at twp p'clock in. the afternoon, Ido hereby require that any person desirous of nominating a Candidate to serve on the Mining Board of the District aforesaid, shall, on or before the 6th day of April next, forward to me in writing the Christian and Surname of such Candidate, such nomination to be signed by not less than five persons qualified to vote at the Election of Members for said Mining Board. Commissariat, Dunedin, 24th February, 1862, nnENDERS wjjl be received at this office, until JL noon oi' Saturday, 22nd proxino, from persons willing to Contract for furnishing H.M.s troops with the undermentioned supplies, in such quantities, at such times, and at such places within this town, as may be directed by the undersigned, or by his successor in office, during the year commencing the Ist April next, under the conditions hereinafter specified, viz. :— PROVISIONS, FUEL, AND LIGHT. The Fresh Meat to consist of Beef and Mutton, delivered in such proportion as may be directed. When Beef is issued, fore and hind quarters are to be delivered to the troops alternately, Six inches to be cut oft" the hough and neck bones. Mutton to be delivered in carcases. The Senior Commissariat Officer or Officer deputed by him to have the power ot inspecting the live Cattle and Sheep intended for slaughter, and of rejecting any animal considered unfit for the use of the Troops. The animals to be killed and ready for the further inspection of the Commissariat Officer at such times and places as he may appoint The Bread shall be the produce of clean sound Wheaten Flour of the best quality, and baked (24 hours before issue) in loaves of 2 lbs. each. The Mould Candles are to be properly seasoned %y being kept on hand by the Contractor for a suitable period after manufacture. ; . The firewood to be hard wood, split and cut into lengths of 4 feet. The Contractor for supplying Firewood must have constantly- on hand, near the Camp or Barracks, in a place to be approved by the undersigned, or his successor in office, a stopk sufficient for 14 days' consumption, from which stock alone the issues are to be made. The stock to be at all tunes subject to the inspection of the Commissariat, and all wood that is objected to at such inspection must be immediately removed. The Wood, although paid for by weight, according to the Tender, must be delivered by measurement, and stacked for that purpose by the I Contractor on delivery ; 71 cubic feet being considered equivalent to a ton of 2240 lbs. ..,',. It will be optional with the Commissariat to bring Coal into more general use, and reduce, or even discontinue the demand for Firewood altogether, should such a change become advisable.
