The mail for Otago, per Lady Bird, was advertise! to close in Melbourne on February 2(ith, at 11.3! a.m. On the last voyage of the Atrevida from Dunedii to Melbourne, a passenger named Frederick Fletclic was washed off the chains and drowned. This acci dent occurred on the 18th January. Everything wa done to save his life, the captain throwing out a lit! buoy to him a.s he floated by the stern, and lowerin; a boat, although the sea fan very high at the time His cap was picked up and the life buoy recovered The deceased was a miner, and had over 80 oz of goli in the hands of the captain. This gold, we under stand, was delivered by the captain of the Atrevida on his arrival in Melbourne, to Mr M'Farlane, th emigration officer. The Geoiigb Marshall.—Mr Savage's boa was at George Town.on .Saturday, taking in wate previous to starting for Flinders' Island, for which h would probably sail on Sunday.
