The Onieo, it will be seen, returned from Lyttelton yesterday, and is intended to -sail for Melbourne on Saturday next. The Oineo left Lyttelton on Wednesday, at lislf-p.ist 11 a.m. ; at 2 p.m. spoke the barque Auvifera. bound for Lyttelton, 21 days out from Adelaide vvith sheep. The barque Silbfcria, which sailed from Port Chalmers yesterday, for Oailao, war. advertised to take passengers en route to Vancouver's Island and British Columbia, but we are not aware of any New Zealand diggers being tempted to undertake the voyage, several, however, took passage for Callao. A Jarge square-rigged vessel, supposed to be the Seaman's Bride, was seen tacking off the coast yesterday, making slow head-way to Port Clalmers against the strong unfavorable wir.cl which prevailed. The interest taken in the arrival of this vessel is increased by the fast that she has on board the company for the Princess' Theatre, the opening of which lias, in consequence of the lengthy voyage, been necessarily delayed beyond the expected time. The saloon passengers by the Mary Scott, -which arrived at Port Utago from Melbourne on Tuesday, made public by a-a advertisement in_ yesterday's Times, a complaint of shortness of provisions during a considerable part of the voyage down. From the statements made, it appears that the vessel was very inadequately provided for a passage of the ordinary length* between Melbourne and Otago, and that the passengers, equally with the Captain, who was complimented for his conduct under the circumstanee«i, suffered an amount of inconvenience which they determine to make public. The brig Cosmopolite, which has been rather anxiously looked for, came into Harbour on Tuesday, having been thirty-nine days on her passage from Utago. After leaving Dunedin only four and twenty hours of fair winds was experienced. At the end of that time, and during the whole of the voyage, there lias been nothing but light baffling winds from all quarters. On the 12th January, the vessel making so little headway, Captain Lewis deemed it prudent to run into Port William, Stewart's island. After remaining there some short time, sail was again set, and after making some little distance, such heavy gales came on that it was utterly impossible to make any headway, and accordingly the brig was again run back to Port William. After staying for some two or three days, another fruitless attempt was made, but on the 2:2 nd ultimo a fair breeze sprang up, and lasted for some- clays, during which the vessel made considerable progress. When near the Solauder Islands the -wind changed agnin, and from that time there lias been nothing tut very bad weather. On Monday week the Cosmopolite was within 300 miles of the land. Captain Lewis reports the Queen of Perth. Cleary, from Invercargill, on the 2-lih ultimo.— Hohi'irt Town Advertiwr, Feb. 12. The Dart, Captain Samson, from Dunedin, New Zealand, the 21st ultimo, arrived here yesterday evening. The Bart touched at Port Arthur, putting in from stress of weather. — Ibid, Feb. 13. The schooner Alma was towed to sea yesterday morning, mi route to Dunedin. She took1 a general valuable cargo, amongst whioh were 553 bags oats, 350 ditto flour, 105 dittoHn-an, 7 horses, (iti lihds. 90 cases malt liquor, SO cases brandy, 2 wooden houses, 3 drays, butter, palings, machinery, &c.
