PORT CHALMERS TOWN BOARD ELECTION.
A public meeting of the electors of Port Chalmers took place on Wednesday, January 29, for the purpose of electing five members of the Town Board, in place of Messrs. John Thompson, David Marr, David Millar, James Malcolm, and J. It. Monson. The meeting took place in the school-room, and John Gillies, Esq., Returning Officer, having read the notice in the Provincial Ouzattu, conveuing the meeting, Mr. Allen moved, and Captain Henry Ridley, seconded :—
'■ Thai the following gentlemen be elected members of the I'ort Chalmers Town Hoard, in place of the live gentlemen, who retire, viz :—Messrs. John Robert Monson, Captain William Thompson, Duncan Mains, Jauies ualbruitu, and David Kilgour." It was moved l>y Air. David Miller, and seconded by Mr. John Campbell—
"That the following be elected, viz:—Messrs. Archibald r.itchie, David Marr, Andrew Wilson, and David Milliii-."
On a show of hands being taken, the following had a majority of votes, viz :—Messrs. David Kilgour, David Millar, Arehihald Ritchie, David Marr, and Captain William Thompson. Air. Allen and Captain Ridley demanded a poll, which the Returning Oiiicev announced would take place the next day, between the hours of 9, a.m., and
i, p.m. The poll was taken yesterday with the following result:—D. Kilgour, 22; D. Mains, 10; J. H. Mousom, ](>; W. Thompson, 14; J. Galbraich, 14; D. Miller, 12; A. ltitchie, 12; 11. Mains, 9; A. "Wilson, 9; Messrs. Kilgour, Mains, Monson, Tliompson, and Galbraith, were accordingly declared duly elected.
