ARRIVAL OF THE ESCORT.
The Escort arrived yesterday afternoon about 20 minutes before 3 o'clock, with. 7,434 ozs. sdwts. from Gabriel's Gully, and 3,3490z5. sdwts. from Waitahuna, in all 10,7S3pzs. lOdwts., which, although it exhibits a considerable-apparent falling off, as compared with the amount, of previous escorts, can scarcely be considered so in reality, when the large number of miners who have gone to the new rush at Waipori, the very unseasonable weather during the last week, and the amusements of the. season are considered.
