ELECTION OF TOWN BOARD.
The nomination of candidates for the Town Board, took place yesterday at the Court-house, about 40 electors being present. J. Gillies, Esq., Returning Officer, having read the writ, called on the electors to proceed to nominate candidates, when the following gentlemen were duly proposed and seconded. The numbers attached to' their respective names show the result of the show of hands .— Messrs. John gwitzer, 16 ; Edward Hulme, M.D., .15; John Cargill, 15 ; J. Kilgour, 14; R. Fenwick, 14; T. W. Bamford, 13 ; T. Redmayne, 13 ; Wm. Shand, 12; James Finch, 10; Arthur Beverly, 9; Alex. Findlater, 9; James Rattray, 8; J. S. Webb, 6; F. L. Mieville, 6 ; R. Howlinson, 6; J. R. Hood, 4. The Returning Officer having declared the show, of hands to be in favor of the first five candidates, a poll was demanded on behalf of the others, and will take place to-day at the office of the Returning Officer, in the Court-house, between 9 o'clock a.m and 4 o'clock p.m.
