Horsk' Market, November 23. Jones, Bird & Co., report in consequence of a temporary glut in the market, the sale to-day was languid :—Heavy draught, £70 to £90 -/medium ditto, £50 to £65 ; good Hacks, £30 to £40 ; tip drays, £25 to £30. Business in Melbourne is stated as quiet, a tolerably fair amount of business was being transsacted, but confined chiefly to small lots. Two cargoes (about 9,000 bags) of sugar had been sold by auction at an advance of about 20s. a ton on counter sorts, and SOs. per ton on crystals. The prices realized were, white crystals, £41 10s.; yellow crystals, £39 10s.; counter, £37 10s. to £38 10s.; good brown, £34 to £36 per ton. 100 tons of Liverpool salt sold at £3 7s. 6d. to £3 10s. per ton. Tasmanian papers to 13th instant report, that in the Hobart Town markets—" In wheat but little is doing, prices quoted are 4s 3d. to 4s 9d., and ss. for a prime sample. Flour, £12 and £S3 per ton. Potatoes almost unsaleable ; they had been sold as low as 30s per ton. Pressed hay, £7 per ton.
