PURE FOODS. ORIGINAL SPECIFIC-REGULATION-AS APPLYING TO " OATMEAL UNDER THE PURE FOODS ACT, 1908. (Jatniesii shall lit- tin- meal produced by «rrincliiisr Oats (Avena Saliva) after the removal of the husk. It shall contain not less tiian five parts jier centum of ethereal extract; and it shall contain not more than two and five-tenths parts per centum of meal derived from other grain than Oats. The New Speiifh- Regulation recommended to the Department of I'tibic Health by l-'leining ami Company, Limited, manufacturers of Pure Oat loods. Oatmeal shall be the meal produced by grinding Oats (Avena Sativa) after the removal of the husk. It shall contain not less than five parts per centum of ethereal extract; it shall not contain any foreign substance. We have strongly urged upon the Chief Health Officer the necessity to amend the above regulation relating to Oatmpfti as \vf*lE as Out foods of all kinds* as we had ample proof that admixtures of cheaper grains were being used by som? makers for their own profit.
