THE DUNEDIN -MARKETS. (Otago Daily Times.) Threshing has commenced on the Taieri. The quality of the wheat is I reported as good, but the area under ! crop is not large, and, moreover, the j yield is not up to expectations. Millers ! are keen buyers of any lines offering. I Fowl wheat is in very short supply. There seems a likelihood that poultry keepers will shortly have to purchase oats instead of wheat. Reports from Canterury tell of a firming in the prices of oats, and tin* local market has responded in symj pathy. Up to last week millers wer. i securing most of their immediate requirements from Canterbury, hut »« threshing has started in Otago they are now able to secure thpir supplies locally. Growers are firm holders for 5s on trucks, country siding.*, sack* extra, and several thousand sacks hav" changed hands at this price. • The shippin gmarket has'also firmed. and the lowest quotation for forward , delivery is 5s 7Jd, f.0.b.-, K.i. B Gar ' tons have been sold, for prompt- shipment, at 5s 7d, but, in view of the 'price being paid growers, merchants ■ ar» now asking os 9d to 5s lOd. ■ Consignments of chaff have been on ! «the light side, and as stocks are short the market shows an advance. Good : quality is selling-at £7 15s to £'S per ton, sacks extra, ex truck, and medium is receiving more attention at .Cfj to £7 per ton. ex store. -Heavy supplies of potatoes ar<> coming to hand. .
