A. curious ami serious accident occurred at Mr Riddifnrd's station, Tp Awaite, as a result whereof a. returned soldier named Corbell now lies in the hospital in a serious condition. He was carting firewood to the station, and dropped the reins and stopped the wagon, but while Corbell was endeavoring to recover the reins the horsns moved on, and thr> man slipped and foil, and somehow tho_ wagon overturned, Corbell being buried in the wood. Thf passing coastal< steamer Ripple was signalled to.' and picked thn iniured man' up and brought him to Wellington.
