SHEEP RETURNS.

A MILLION DECREASE. By Telegraph. (Special to the Oamaru Mail.) WELLINGTON, October 31. The annual sheep returns for the Dominion show that on the 30tn April the total number of sheep were as follows:—North Island, 14,211.278, a decrease compared with last year of 540,334: South Island, 11,616,610, a decrease of 403,414; making a grand total of 25,828,554. showing a decrease on the year of 1,037.300. The statistics show the distribution to be as follows over the sheep districts:— District. Owners. Sheep.
