Robert William Smith, a nimjd man..aged 53 years, residing at Bngliioii and employed at the local coal mine was working to-day when a slip ot c av from the r£f struck . Inn. down against the hard coal, causing a deep gash on the left temple. He was apparently suffocated while unconscious. An inquest was opened for identifica-ion.-and then adjourned 'lhe mme closed down in the. meantime. Deceased leaves' a."widow, two daughters, and a son who has not: yet returned from the. war. .
