THE INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.
I'f.ii Pitrcss Appociattov. CHRISTCHURCH, July 15
A meeting of the Influenza Epidemic Organising Committee was lir-ld tonight. The Mayor .said he had called the" meeting in order to get the organisation going, for two reasons: (1) Because the spring- was near and; (2) because large numbers of people would ■be congregating together. Various matters of organisation were arranged. In' the course of a letter, the Secretary of the Christchureh Division of the British Medical As- . sedation said : ""I" am directed to inform you that contrary to •the statement of the District Health my .division does not consider that the differences between its members and the Health Department have been settled, and it has been left to the individual members to take such action as they think fit for payment of their work (luring-the epidemic. However, my division wishes me to state that it- is agreeable to form a medical block system, and place it in the bands of specialists and other medical men, not in general practice, and that these men. working the block system, shall be paid ten guineas a day for their ser- . vices."
