At the Supreme Court, before Mr Justice Sim, Daniel Lynch, aged 19, for an indecent assault on a female at Makikihi. was admitted 1 to probation for two'years and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution, on condition that if .he were accepted for military service, lie would pass out of the jurisdiction of the probation officer. John Cranston, charged with theft at Askhurton, pleaded guilty, and was admitted to probation, and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution. ' ' Christchurch, May 14. At the Supreme Court Thomas Henry Friend, : found guilty yesterday of an attempted serious crime against a girl under sixteen years, was sentenced to lire years' imprisonment. Judge Herdman'said he would recommend the Minister of Justice to have him sent .to the Invercargill prison for special treatment. • • .
